Its a good list of articles, but for me http://www.asjava.com is also one of the great site for learning basic java.

I don’t know if it deserves to be in this section, but, there’s a real good website that you can test your knowledge, it is an online java and phyton compiler that gives you several puzzles to solve with java/phyton that also helps a lot, http://www.javabat.com .
The Ranch gets my vote of confidence.
Javaranch is far better then many of the sites listed here, no comparison. It’s good for scjp and other java certifications.
Stackoverflow is a site with good answers and helps me a lot at work.
Stackoverflow is built on ASP.NET not on JAVA
I would highly recommend javaranch.com. It is a very professional website with awesome people administrating it.
