Problem

Pidgin is a popular IM tool in *nix platform, it’s allow many different type of IM in one place. Ubuntu has Pidgin installed by default, however the default yahoo pager server is not working for me!?

This is the default YM pager server

scs.msg.yahoo.com

This problem is buggy me quite a long time, i have many contacts in YM, failed to connect really make me feel very inconvenient. I had tried few other pager servers and solutions, but all failed to connect still.

Solution

The only Yahoo pager work for me is “cn.scs.msg.yahoo.com” , china server working only?

cn.scs.msg.yahoo.com

Open Pidgin –> Accounts –> Manage Accounts –> Click on the Yahoo Message , select the Advance tab, change the Yahoo pager server to “cn.scs.msg.yahoo.com”, see picture below :

This trick work for me, or do you have alternative solution?
