NDS – Unable to load data (Solution) – How to update R4 kernel
Recently, i downloaded a lot of latest NDS games from internet and hit the following error while starting the game.
“Unable to load data. Turn the power off and reinsert the game card”
This is because my NDS R4 kernal is outdated(v1.08), can not support the latest game. After updated R4 kernel to latest version(v1.18), everything is working fine now.
Update R4 kernel manually is just a piece of cake, see following guidelines to update the R4 kernel :
1) Take out your R4 card (small card) from NDS.
2) Plug your R4 card into USB pen drive which support micro SD, (USB pen drive that you used to copy game). Your R4 file content should like this :
3) Go here http://www.r4ds.me/download/r4ds.html to download the latest R4kernal.
4) R4 Kernal file is something like “English-1.18.rar”, you need “winrar” to unzip it. please go http://www.rarsoft.com/download.htm
to download if you do not have winrar installed in your computer.
5) Unzip it, the _DS_MENU.DAT and _DS_MSHL.NDS are core files for R4 kernel.
6) Copy all the unzip kernel files above to your R4 card and REPLACE IT ALL. (Please remember backup , just in case).
7) Unplug your USB pen drive and reinsert your R4 card, enjoy your game.
Done.

I was having the exact same problem,so i deleted everything and downloaded the wood kernel instead and now all my games work perfectly,also DO NOT update your ds as it renders your r4 card useless,mine is a dsi,ended up getting a new one.Bugsy
in mine it stays a white screen or black can anyone help
at first it turned to have white or black screen, but after some restarts, now its worked!

my power died while updating the kernal, now it just says no card is inserted into the ds. is there any way to fix this, and get a working kernal back on there, i only know how to update an existing one. but how do i put one on there from scratch?
I have r4 for my ds lite and updated to a newer version. i copied over the new files and inserted it back in my r4 card and turned my ds on but it just freezes on the loading screen any help?

Please explain the unziping process ore detaily. I have the kernel downloaded and on WINAR but yet cannot seem to make the program unzip and replace it

san ko po pwede madownload tong file na to.. eto po ung initial files ng r4 bago palitan ng version ng moonshell.. please help me po nareformat ko po kasi memory card ko eh.. wala pala me back up nyan :( please kindly help me.. buong araw na po ako naghanap pero wala po ako nahanap :(
i got the same problem. when comes a new update. when i play a new games I get a white screen. what is the solution for this problem?
I Have recently got a lot of new roms but none work on ds with r4 v2 version 1.18,
is it possible i need to upgrade to a new r4 card.the roms load but the screen either goes white or black can anyone help
