Question
When i boot my computer today, i had encounter one waring from booting message and stop process untill i press any key. What wrong with my computer? Here is the warning message
Verifying DMI Pool Data…
“Warning: DES is turned off!!! Please use DES application to turn it on again!”
“Press any key to continue..”
My motherboard is Gigabyte EP45-UD3P.
Solution
DES is stands for ‘Dynamic Energy Saver‘ in Gigabyte motherboard term, usually it bundle in our Gigabyte motherboard CD. After we installed the Dynamic Energy Saver software from CD and turn it off. High chance we will encounter this warning message. The solution is easy, just enable the Dynamic Energy Saver software and the warning message will gone.
Dynamic Energy Saver can be acccess from Start –> All Programs –> Gigabyte –> EnergySaver

i install my motherboard drivers then computer resturt and show ees warning.i enable usb keyboard and press a key then windows booting start but befor windows booting finishd computer will restart.

If your USB keyboard won’t work, try this:
- Restart
- Immediately hit DEL (or several times) to go into the BIOS
- Find whatever equivalent of enabling the USB keyboard or (in my case) USB keyboard startup, and make sure all USB functions (legacy mode, etc.) are enabled.
- when the DES message comes up, change your USB keyboard input (i.e. pull out the USB cable, and re-insert it into a different USB slot).
- Then you should be able to boot up.
- Follow instructions given above, or uninstall DES.
works.
Thanks for sharing your invaluable experience.
EES = EASY ENERGY SAVER /// DES = DINAMYC ENERGY SAVER (?)
I met with a similiar problem last night when I reboot my PC. It stopped at the warning: EES(I’m using an AMD 955 and GB ma-770t-ud3p) is turned off!! and something, something… Press any key to continue…
When I tried to press any key, the keyboard just didn’t work any more. I was out of mind because this PC costed me a lot of money; besides, I like it very much and want it to be good. After I searched google for help, I noticed this website and here I am. Then after reading the suggestions above, what I can do now is to wait untill tomorrow to see if these suggestions work. Actually, I think they will. Thank you guys, anyway. Let’s see.
Cool of you to take the time sharing this with us, I for one appriciate it
same problem… USB not recognized… forgot my BIOS password. is there a way to reset bios without flashing it, like maybe via the Gigabyte Motherboard disc? I have it. will try to come up with a paralell keyboard.
if you have forgotten the bios setup pass, clear cmos by removing the cmos battery or remove cmos jumper and put it to clear cmos pins and then put it back to normal mode pins in your motherboard
The problem seems to arise when f9 (Recovery……..Something, something) is pressed during boot. The way i did it was to enable the usb keyboard function in the BIOS but even so i still had to wait for the “Press any Key” message to appear then un-plug and re-plug in my keyboard to be able to do it…….. Hope this helps???
thanks for sharing your tips. I sure someone will benefit of it
Hy this ist the right solution super –> in the Bios setting USB Kybord activate. Perfect thanks
very helpfull..thanks!!
Enabling keyboard worked! A Big Thank you to this post!
Thanks for your help guys, i had same problem but enabling in BIOS worked a treat (wierd how i got into the BIOS in the first place though)
Hey guys .. i tried to activate the USB Support at start..
but i cant it wont go on this field..
everything is blolcked without so SMART LAN…..
i dont find my CD from Gigabyte
is there any other chance to start my PC..
i dont tried to use an old keybord yet…
Dumb idea having to press a key. I use the PC as a HTPC with no keyboard attached so I’ve had to forgoe the energy saving and turn off this feature simply due to the boot interruption.
To turn it off, uninstall the program from windows and clear your CMOS.
hi thanks for your tips ~
[...] Solutia: (personala, uimitor de utila): foloseste temporar o tastatura ps2 pentru a putea apasa ANY KEY. Daca nu functioneaza, vezi aici. [...]
I may have found the solution to the problem, at least it worked for more. In the peripherals setting of the BIOS, Enable USB keyboard. That was all i need now everything is working great again.
Nice trick ! thanks for sharing
Thanks, robW, your suggestion saved me a lot of time and effort – this is exactly the right solution for getting the computer to boot so the problem can be fixed in whatever way needed!
Yeah… I flashed the BIOS and it reset the USB keyboard settings… I turned them back on as you suggested, and its working again. Now all I have to do is wait for it to rebuild my RAID 1 (After 20 minutes its only 6% complete).
Good, very good. I had the same problem and tried to follwo your suggested solution and it worked fine. A big Thanks for your help.
I am having the exact same problem. I have tried two different keyboards, both USB, and none of them work. I can’t even load to the boot screen to choose a boot from CD-ROM because the keyboard stops working after I hit F12. Anybody have some way to bypass the DES and possibly startup in a different mode? Is safe mode after this screen? I have also tried clearing the CMOS, didn’t help anything.
After you turn on the energy saver, click on the small X, before the window will be closed, you will be asked if you want to run DES in stealth mode, answer yes, this will make sure DES is always running.
Thanks for tip ~
and what to do when keyboard is no longer ‘active’ to hit any key?
(tried both a logitech standard keyboard plugged into USB and also
plugged into USB->Mouseport adapter, as well as a Saitek keyboard…
neither works after getting to this ‘warning’ state in bootup)
Thanks for tips~
I have exactly the same problem. My keyboard doesn’t work anymore at this step so I can’t boot my computer.
Can anybody help?
you may try farkinpissed ‘s suggestion , try different keyboard and attached into different USB ports or parallel ports (old keyboard).
By default, USB keyboard and USB mouse functionality is disabled in the BIOS — enabling these might solve your problem, as it did for me.
I had to use a PS2 key board to solve this problem, after accessing the
bios and setting thing up the my wireless usb key board worked fine
tq. i juz got the same problem
